About Us

A billing partner that actually reads the EOB

Med Cost Billing is a New Jersey–based revenue cycle management company working with independent practices and small groups across the country.

A billing professional reviewing accounts at her desk

Why we started

Independent practices lose real money to problems nobody has time to look at: a modifier rule that changed, a payer that quietly started requiring authorization, a 90-day bucket that grew while the front desk was covering three jobs at once.

None of that is a hard problem. It's an attention problem. We built Med Cost Billing to be the people who pay attention to it full time, so clinicians can go back to the part of the job they trained for.

How we work

Small enough that you know who's working your account, structured enough that nothing depends on one person being at their desk. Every client gets a named account lead, a written workflow, and a monthly report that says what we collected, what got denied, why, and what we're changing.

What we commit to

  • Denials worked within 48 hours — no dollar threshold below which we stop caring
  • A named contact who answers the phone, not a ticket queue
  • Your data stays yours; we export it back on request, any time
  • No long lock-in — if we're not earning it, you can leave
  • Plain-English reporting; if a report needs a translator, it's a bad report

Principles

Three rules we don't bend

Code what was done

We never upcode to raise a number and never downcode to avoid a fight. Documentation drives the code, and if the note doesn't support it, we come back to you before the claim goes out.

Nothing gets written off quietly

Small-balance denials are where practices bleed, because writing one off is faster than working it. We work it, and the write-off report is yours to review.

PHI is not casual

No patient data over regular email, no records on personal devices, no vendor without a BAA. Convenience never wins that argument.
